TRANSMEDIA GAME JAM

Code of Conduct

Organised by Helsinki Film Lab × Finnish Game Jam Association

The Transmedia Game Jam brings together professionals from film, animation, games, and beyond to explore new forms of storytelling through collaboration. To ensure a positive, creative, and inclusive atmosphere for everyone, all participants are expected to follow this Code of Conduct throughout the event — whether attending on-site or online.

1. Respect & Inclusion

  • Treat all participants, mentors, and organisers with respect, regardless of their background, gender, identity, experience level, or discipline.

  • We celebrate diversity and expect everyone to contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  • Harassment, discrimination, or exclusionary behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

2. Collaboration & Communication

  • This event is built on openness and teamwork. Communicate clearly, listen actively, and support your teammates.

  • Respect different creative opinions and approaches — innovation often comes from unexpected combinations.

  • Give credit where it’s due. Each participant’s contribution matters.

3. Intellectual Property & Creative Ownership

  • All rights to pre-existing IPs remain with their original owners.

  • Each cross-industry (transmedia) team will agree on the terms of use, sharing, and ownership of their jointly created materials individually and in writing, if applicable.

  • The prototypes, pitches, or demos created during the jam are for educational and demonstration purposes only, unless otherwise agreed upon by all parties.

4. Professional Conduct

  • Be mindful of deadlines, time management, and other teams’ workspace and resources.

  • Respect the venue, equipment, and provided materials.

  • No offensive, explicit, or harmful content should be developed or presented during the event.

5. Safety & Wellbeing

  • Take care of yourself and others. Rest, eat, and hydrate — creativity flows better when you do.

  • Report any issues, conflicts, or safety concerns immediately to the organisers or designated staff.

  • We reserve the right to remove participants who violate this Code of Conduct from the event without refund or accreditation transfer.

6. Representation & Public Sharing

  • You are welcome to share your experience and behind-the-scenes moments on social media — please tag @HelsinkiFilmLab and @FinnishGameJam.

  • However, do not share sensitive project materials or private discussions without consent from your team and any IP partners involved.

7. Let’s Make It Great

The Transmedia Game Jam is a space for creative experimentation, collaboration, and respect. By joining, you agree to uphold these values and help us make this a supportive and inspiring environment for everyone.
