Have a Production Company in Helsinki? Think Your Project Has Transmedia Potential? Build It with Helsinki Film Lab

Want to bring your stories into new formats and new markets?

Production companies based in Helsinki can now apply for a fully funded spot in the next edition of our intensive course:

Creating a Transmedia Strategy for Film Professionals (26.08-11.09.2025)

Thanks to support from Helsingin kaupunki, Helsingfors stad, City of Helsinki, and Digital Creative Industries and Beyond (DCIB), selected participants will join the course free of charge.

Led by game designer and narrative strategist Kurt McClung, the course is designed for film and TV producers, screenwriters, and development professionals ready to explore new business models, build transmedia IPs, and extend their projects into the world of games.

Over the course of three weeks, participants will meet two times per week online. With a diverse group of professionals from across creative fields, participants will dive not only into theory but also into hands-on exercises designed to foster creative alignment across disciplines and processes. This is a rarity, and essential in today's creative ecosystem.

Key takeaways:

  • A solid grasp of the gaming industry's ecosystem and funding logic

  • Tools to assess IP's potential for cross-platform development

  • Develop a transmedia strategy by learning how to expand stories across multiple platforms

Participants are welcome to attend with or without an existing project.

Eligibility: we’re selecting eight participants from production companies that are registered in Helsinki and focused both on growth and internationalisation
