Helsinki Film Lab collaborates with Pocket Gamer Connects to launch Beyond Games: The Transmedia Summit
With a trailblazing initiative, Helsinki Film Lab is breaking new ground: a first-of-its-kind summit in Helsinki will bring film, TV, animation, and games professionals together to initiate and consolidate cross-industry collaboration.
Helsinki Film Lab is joining forces with Pocket Gamer Connects (PGC) Helsinki, the leading games industry conference in the Nordics, to present Beyond Games: The Transmedia Summit on Tuesday, 7 October 2025 at Wanha Satama, in downtown Helsinki.
PG Connects brings together thousands of games professionals: in 2024, over 1,500 delegates from more than 40 countries gathered in Helsinki. This year, for the first time, the event opens its doors to film, TV, and animation professionals through the new Transmedia Summit, offering a rare chance for the screen industries to step directly into dialogue with the international games world.
Curated and produced by Helsinki Film Lab, the summit will feature a dedicated match-making event designed to accelerate cross-industry business connections, as well as talks and panels led by global experts in film, games and media.
Headlining the lineup of speakers, HFL is proud to welcome Emmy Award-winning writer and producer Ann Austen (Robocop, Power Rangers, Barbie/Netflix). With decades of experience under her belt, Austen will open up how stories travel across formats, how great branded content is created, and why innovation matters more than ever in today’s creative industries.
For film and TV professionals the summit is an opportunity to discover how games companies approach world-building, IP, and audience engagement; explore new business models and technologies relevant to film and TV production, and build connections with leading figures in one of the fastest-growing creative sectors
“At Helsinki Film Lab, we believe the future of storytelling lies in collaboration between creative industries. This partnership with PGC puts film professionals at the heart of that exchange - not as spectators, but as active participants shaping new transmedia opportunities,” says Alisha Hasan, CEO of Helsinki Film Lab.
To welcome film and TV professionals as a dedicated audience at PG Connects for the first time, the collaboration introduces a new Transmedia ticket with an Early Bird price of €70. This one-day pass grants full access to the Transmedia Summit programme, the comprehensive PGC expo area, and the office post-conference networking party.
The Transmedia Ticket can be bought here. More information about PG Connects Helsinki can be found here.
